Battle mages are a bit more complicated, they're also a damage dealers, but their damage potential is harder to implement as player supposed to exploit elemental weaknesses of certain unit types or individual units due to having fully elemental damage. Ranged class have very straightforward damage focused design, all ranged enchantments (except 2) increase damage, abilities of both Glade Runner and Zephyr Archer damage related, higher nominal damage values. So battle mages will nominally do better damage only against shield units, because 1-2 more defense compared to resistance only somewhat equalize damages of battle mages and ranged units due to flat damage differences.īattle mage is a different unit class and has different design compared to ranged class.
Only shield units tend to have significantly higher defense compared to resistance due to 'Shield Defense', Polearm units usually have 1-2 more defense, shock and fighter units tend to have equal defense/resistance or 1 defense more (in very rare cases 2 more defense), majority of battle mages and skirmishers have equal defenses and resistances and support units usually have 2 more resistance. Units have higher defense on average is a bit of misleading argument to explain lower damages of battle mages.
